1. Let all mortal flesh keep silence,
and with fear and trembling stand;

Christ our God to earth descendeth
our full homage to demand.

Lord of all, in human vesture,

Christ will give to all the faithful,

3. Rank on rank the host of heaven
spreads its van guard on the way,
as the Light of Light, descending
from the realms of endless day,
comes the powers of hell to vanquish

4. At his feet the sixwinged Seraph,
Cheru bim with sleepless eye
veil their faces to the Presence
as with ceaseless voice they cry,
hallelujah, Lord most high.'
